Frequently Asked Questions
Can you help me set up my equipment?
Yes! Some learners bring their console here, and I can assist with setting up the console and software within my knowledge. I’m comfortable with Rekordbox, familiar with Serato, and starting to get the hang of the basics of Traktor and Virtual DJ. So as long as you're okay with the fact that I don’t have all the answers and there's a good chance we'll need to look things up together, I’d be happy to help you with your setup. :)

Do you travel?
For young people 15 and under who have their own equipment at home, yes. If you have mobility limitations that prevent you from coming to my studio on the second floor, I can also make an exception and come to you, of course. Please note that you need to have the equipment at home, and a travel fee applies. Email me at mvsiqueville@gmail.com.

Do you offer online classes?
No.
What is the address?
The exact address is provided in the booking email.

Should I use Rekordbox or Serato DJ Pro?
As long as the software is compatible with your controller, it really comes down to personal preference. Rekordbox is considered an industry standard because most clubs and festivals use Pioneer equipment, and it will be much easier for you to use Rekordbox to ensure compatibility with the equipment provided at events. That said, Serato can do the job just as well if you mostly work from home (online, for example) or bring your own equipment to events. However, keep in mind that all the work you put into your tracks (grids, cues, comments, etc.) is not transferable from one software to another, so it’s better to choose wisely if you want to avoid having to redo your library from scratch later (but that's part of the job).

If you ask for my personal opinion, I definitely prefer Rekordbox, first for its easy compatibility, but also for all the creative potential it offers, its reliability, and especially its efficiency in properly gridding tracks, which makes our job as DJs a thousand times easier (and which I find Serato really lacks 😅).

What is the cancellation and rescheduling policy?

I require a 25% deposit, deductible from the session price, to reserve your time slot. If you need to cancel, please do so within 48 hours (non-business days) prior to the meeting in order to get your deposit back. If you cancel or reschedule within the 48 hours before the session, the deposit will not be refunded. In case of a reschedule, a new deposit will need to be paid for the next booking. Thank you for your understanding.
